The Rota-dent is powered by a rechargeable Ni-Cd battery. When
packaged, the battery is partially charged, but fully operational. You must
charge the power handle for 24 hours before initial use. The charge may
last up to two weeks depending on personal use.
To Charge Initially:
- Use an outlet that is continually live. Test with a small
appliance if unsure.
- Remove brush head from power handle.
- Plug ONLY THE ROTA-DENT charger into outlet and insert
the small adapter into the power handle.
- Turn the switch to the “OFF” position.
- Charge the power handle for 24 hours before initial use.
Ni-Cd batteries do not require constant charging. Battery life is determined
by the number of times it is recharged.
- Disconnect the power handle from the charger. Do not
leave charger plugged into the power handle. Power handle will not
operate when connected to the charger.

To Recharge Your Power Handle:
When the power level of your Rota-dent decreases noticeably,
it is time to recharge the power handle. Follow steps 1-4 as listed above and
recharge the power handle for 8 to 12 hours.
The charger should not be charged for more than 24
hours. You can damage electrical components if charging exceeds the
24 hour period. After a 24 hour charge your Rotadent should function
for about a two more week.
Because the power handle is a sealed unit for protection from
moisture, and for infection control and protection of the patient and our
employees, the power handle is not repairable and the battery may not be
replaced.

To Assure Your Power Handle is Operating:
- Remove brush head from power handle.
- Use your fingernail or a thin bladed knife to “Pop” off
the black “on/off” switch and clean under switch. (If back of switch
looks rusty, switch may need to be replaced.)
- Put the “on/off” switch back on the power handle with
“on” at the top.
- Charge power handle for 8 hours.
- Be sure charger gets warm when plugged in. (If charger did
not get warm, charger may need to be replaced.)
- Remove charger from power handle. Power handle will not
operate when connected to the charger.
- Turn unit on. The metal shaft should turn.
- If male connector is broken, Power Handle will need to be
replaced.
If the power handle loses a charge quickly or runs slowly with
brush head attached, the brush head is probably worn out and should be replaced.
If the power handle will not operate after removing the brush
head, disconnecting charger, and cleaning under switch, the power handle needs
to be replaced.
Never drench, submerge, or immerse power handle in water.
