NITROUS OXIDE

Nitrous oxide is fast-acting,
quick recovery and has few side effects.
Nitrous oxide is a safe
and well established way to deal with dental anxiety and discomfort. It
can be used with children and adults. 85 % of pediatric dentist use it
with their patients.
Nitrous oxide is a sweet-smelling
gas made up of nitrogen and oxygen. It has a calming and comforting effect while
allowing you to be in control and awake through the procedure. This allows
you to communicate with us throughout the procedure . It has the effect of
raising the pain threshold and may even make time feel like it passes more
quickly.
Nitrous oxide is mixed
with oxygen so it takes effect quickly, less than five minutes and you will
recover quickly, about five to ten minutes and has few side effects. It can be individually
adjusted to your personal need.

Nitrous oxide can help
you if you anxious, have an overactive gag reflex, help control pain. It can be
used when we give injections to help you through this procedure
to make it more comfortable for you.
It can not
be used if you are pregnant, too young to understand the procedure or if you are
uncomfortable with something around your nose. Remember to have an empty stomach or no heavy meals two
hours before use
We will be monitoring you
throughout your use of nitrous oxide. We will monitor your temperature,
blood pressure, skin color, eye dilation, pulse, communication levels and
emotional responses.
Nitrous is given through
a mask that fits snugly over your nose. For a small fee we can provide you
with an individual mask for your protection that can be reused only by
you. This will reduce the likelihood of cross-contamination.
These
individualized masks are latex free and come in different sizes, scents and
colors. You may keep your mask
and bring it with you as needed. If you have any questions about this very

seems to work fine on children/adults who are at the Asperger's
