  FULL TIME 
                    DENTAL HYGIENIST 

  Employer: Dr. D. E. Peterson
  Frequency of pay: 
Salary paid $200.00/day.  
$1,500.00 relocation allowance.
Overview:
 Responsible for hygiene department, patient treatment, hygiene maintenance, recare program and other duties as needed. 
Philosophy:
Positive, patient and education oriented. An open, flexible, warm, dental family attitude toward patient and staff is encouraged to develop patient and staff loyalty and practice growth. 

Major duties:

bulletParticipates in practice marketing activities
bulletPatient education of oral hygiene instruction and other dental related areas
bulletReinforces treatment plan needs for patient
bulletPerforms charting on patientís needs, presenting problem, medical and dental history, perio and tooth charting, review social history, review health history each visit
bulletNebraska allows R.D.H. to perform the following procedures:
Prophylaxes Scaling Root planing
Closed gingival curettage Inspect oral cavity Apply topical anitcariogenic agents
Places/removes:
sutures, retraction cords
temporary         restorations
matrix
dressings, rubber dams
Monitor nitrous oxide Fabricate impression trays
Polish teeth & restorations Numbs oral cavity Patient education
Bleaching kits Breath Treatment New patient visit
Recare Appointment Radiographs Mouthguard/nightguards
Sealants Fluoride applications Takes impressions
bulletTakes and records blood pressure, temperature, color, respiration, pulse
bulletReview treatment recommendations with patients
bulletExposes, processes and evaluates developed radiographs
bulletManages patient hygiene regimen
bulletRecords oral conditions and findings in computer charts, updates tooth chart, work needed to be done, procedures performed, cost of procedures and recommendations needed for the patient
bulletInventories supplies related to area of work
bulletDevelop prevention program for patients
bulletGives input into office website, responds to e-mails related to hygiene area
bulletShare office maintenance duties
bulletCleans hygiene room, sterilized instruments, and prepares hygiene room for patients
bulletPerforms assisting, recare, ASAP and clerical duties during hygiene downtime
bulletProvide intraoral camera tour of patientís mouth
bulletAttends office training and meetings along with continuing education classes as needed

  Prerequisites:

bulletGraduate of an accredited dental hygiene program
bulletLicensed to practice in geographic region of employment
bulletAble to follow and apply established office policies and procedures
bulletStrong interpersonal skills
bulletCapable of working effectively with doctor, staff members, and patients under varying conditions
bulletFamiliar with computers and internet programs
  Supervision:
Receives general supervision from Office manager regarding unusual problems, scheduling, emergency or new situations, receives general supervision from the doctor regarding patient care procedures; performs recurring and routine work independently.
  Policies and Procedures:
The hygienist uses existing office policies and procedures for interpretation of issues.

  Physical labor: 
Work is performed primarily in a sitting position. There will be exposure to debris from treatment procedures. It will be required to wear protective gear for all procedures including uniform, safety eyewear, mask, and gloves. Lifting objects up to 25 pounds may be required
  Areas of work:
Work is performed in an office environment in the hygiene treatment room. Occasionally work may be performed outside of the office for community dental education.

  1. Maintain a full schedule of hygiene patients in a timely accurate friendly manner.
  2. Reinforce patient hygiene and nutritional compliance.
