Nonsurgical Perio
dontal Treatment

Periodontal disease affects 3 out of 4 adults.

What is Soft Tissue Management?

It is an individualized plan to eliminate infection of the gums and root surfaces.  Remember periodontal disease is an infectious and inflammatory disease  that results from bacteria collecting on the tooth surface above and below the gum line which destroys gum tissues and bone.

The greatest cause of adult tooth loss is gum disease.

The procedure used is called Root Planing.  This treatment  is of the diseased root surfaces BELOW the gumline.  It focus on eliminating:

bulletTartar and plaque below the gum
bulletDetoxifying the root surfaces where the disease occurs
bulletObtaining smooth roots
bulletFlushing out the pockets allow for healthy reattachment of the gums to the root surfaces.
bulletThe goal is to decrease the biological burden oxygenate an anaerobic environment in order to stimulate antigen/antibody interaction giving a global response destratify the local ecosystem  to disrupt the biofilm by gross mechanical debridement of calculus stimulate stagnant capillary ends in order to decrease the toxin burden  and improve the self cleansing We are treating a multifactorial problem with a multifactorial treatment.
