All of our dental assistants continue to take additional
training so that they can perform more complex functions. They
are referred to as "expanded duty dental
assistants".
We have monthly
training sessions for our staff to learn new dental techniques and procedures
and they frequently attend the following continuing education programs.

Attend a workshop in Fort
Collins as a team on office management and techniques to improve patient
care and treatment. We had an office meeting one week late on how to
incorporate these suggested improvement into our practice.

Our office manager
attended a workshop on Behavior Interviewing through the University of
Nebraska Panhandle Station.
Our Patient Care Advocate
and Treatment Planer/Assistant Office Manager attended the Dentrix 10
advanced workshop in Denver. They came back ready to tackle the new
dental insurance codes to ensure that we are HIPAA compliant.
Our office manager
attended the Surgery Symposium on Obesity at the Gering Convention Center
to learn more how overweight and obesity affects total health and well
being.

Dr. Peterson and his
complete staff attended the West District Dental meeting in Sidney.
It was an excellent all day workshop about offering our patients great
care and meaningful dental services. Dr. Peterson attended an extra
day to learn about how to offer accurate and complete lab information to
our dental labs so the produces and services you receive are of the
highest quality.

Dr. Peterson and his
family attended the Christian Dental Society Conference at the Leid Center
in Nebraska City. It was an inspiring conference to confirm what the
true purpose of dentistry is all about........to serve God through using
His gifts to meet the physical, spiritual, mental and emotional needs of
others. We are actively working toward sending Dr. Peterson on a
dental missions trip.

Dr. Peterson attended the
UNL workshop at Western Nebraska College on Dental Implants.
We had an all staff
meeting about Bio-terrorism and how to identify victims, prevent the
spread of these disease, and who to contact. We have started a
Bio-terrorism file for staff education. We updated our mercury
protection policies and have new policies on amalgam removal and
disposal.

OSHA considerations for dental offices covered; OSHA Annual Review Test
given; New CDT4 reviewed; HIPAA updates given; Hands on Hygiene discussed;

reviewed benefit dentistry and customer appreciation. We
accomplished a "walk about" in our office. Ask us about
it. We are in the process of reviewing safety, fire and medical
emergencies.

The staff and Dr. Peterson attended the three day Connections 2003 Dental
Conference at Denver, Colorado. We targeted two 3 hours workshops
that we attended as a staff in order to strengthen our commitment to
patient care service and to medical and dental medications and health
conditions. We than each choose areas to attend that we thought
would continue our career growth to help us meet our individual and team
goals.
