COMMUNITY
SERVICE 2001
Once a month we have a missionary project among
our patients.
We record monthly dental health
tips for airing on KCMI.
We write
articles about dental health tips for the Gering Courier
Newspaper.
BECAUSE WE
CARE!

fluoridated toothpaste to the Head Start Program in our area to
help in the dental care of these children.

the Jeremiah House to give to those in need.
OCTOBER

restocked for CCS.
We provided educational materials
on sealants, orthodontic care and fluoride to over 250 children
at CCS to celebrate National Dental Health Month.
September
We participated in Orcom's Health
Fair for their employees.
We are donating Save-A-Tooth
emergency kit to the A.Y.S.O. Soccer organization for our area.
Our office manager represented
Family Gentle Dental Care at the Opportunity Fair at the
University of Nebraska Dental School in Lincoln. Dental
students were given the opportunity to receive informational
packets about our area and the job
needs available in Western Nebraska.
Staff provided dental screening
services for the health screening day at Community Christian
School. Over 250 students were educated on their need for
sealants, visiting an orthodontist by the age of 7 along with
seeing their dentist every 6 months.
August
We donated a dental assistant's
chair, dental equipment and shoes to a missions Bible school in Africa.
We are collecting clothes for the
missions trip to Mexico.
We were in the Oregon Trail Parade
and passed out flyers, stickers, bookmarkers and airplanes that
taught about the benefits of fluoridating water. Our theme
was "Way to Go Gering". Gering choose to
fluoridate their water two years ago.

June and July 2001
We held a food booth at the
Oregon Trail Days to raise money for our missions trip to Mexico
for the summer of 2002. We also had a garage sale to help raise
funds. The community was very supportive.
We have had the opportunity to
train two dental assisting students from the North Platte Dental
Assisting School. They have been shown and taught dental
systems, ADA dental codes, charting, Dentrix software, intraoral
imaging programming, treatment planning and patient education
services.
We helped to network a newly
licensed Registered Hygienist to local dental offices to work
for local dentist through the month of June.

We did a fund drive challenge
with Dr. Pieper's office to see who could raise more
"pennies" for the St. Jude Children's hospital.
Christi was interviewed on the morning show of a local radio
station and officially challenged Dr. Pieper's office. Our
office raised $50.00 for the cause.
We participated in the Job Fair
at our local community college. We had a booth set up to
help educate our community on jobs available in the dental
area. We handed out brochures on how to become a dentist,
hygienist, dental assistant and dental lab technician. A video
on career opportunities in the dental profession was
provided by the N.D.A. and viewed by many of the participants.
(We forgot our camera)
We celebrated National Nutrition
Month by placing articles about good nutrition in our local
paper and radio station. A new nutrition index guide was
